Where are they now?

I can't believe I haven't mentioned this before. From The Hindu, apparently India's national newspaper, in August last year:

Towards a chequered career abroad

The Career Guidance Cell of the Yadava College organised a programme on August 9 on `student progression to higher education in Australia' for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Students were enlightened on an overview of study life in Australia by Benjamin Cass, Director of Students Services Inter-National, Australia, and Darren Ray, Chief Operations Officer.

Mr. Cass said Indian students were being given freedom to live and lead in Australia without any compromise on their likes, culture and customs. They also had the freedom of selecting their own subject modules and the country offered good courses on information technology and management at affordable cost.

Guessing that the Hindu might have had something different in mind, but this definition of a chequered career is quite apt for Darren and Ben...

'Chequered career' refers to both successful and unsuccessful periods. When exactly were either of these two successful at anything?

I love the titles they've given themselves there. Are they even appropriate?

Scarlett: I quite liked (and still like) the Sails over North Court, so count that's one success for Ben. As for Darren, um, the Exam Assistance Booth?

Agent: I love the titles too. Given the titles, it would seem that Darren is/was subservient to Ben, as usual. Not sure what you mean about the appropriateness of them though.

I meant it more as do they actually fill that sort of a capacity in their employment roles?

Okay Brent, I'll give the devil his due...I agree that the sails are rather nice. As for Darren - perhaps monument to his huge ego - the expanded presidential office.

Agent: I don't know how big the 'Operations' are/were, but I'm guessing they weren't travelling to India to check out Bollywood...

Scarlett: That's a bit harsh. Darren's office was used by the four Farrago editors in the year after he left. ..

Don't forget that sail leaked everywhere for over a year ever time in rained after it was first installed because they hadn't got the drainage right. It looked shocking until they managed to get that grill under it.

Hmmm let me stick for Mr Ray for a while here. How about the exam assistance booth, having a hand in getting the bookroom moved and working with the academic programs committee to stop us having shoter or more frequent exams. Come to think of it, most of these were the Acting Education Officer's policies and good work, but Mr Ray did have a good hand in these....

As for Mr Cass, not being a student there we he was president I cannot comment on the good he has done, but one knows plenty about the evil he has caused...
